Osteotomy/Ulna Shortening

December 18, 2024

Osteotomy/ulna shortening refers to a surgical procedure where a portion of the ulna bone in the forearm is cut and removed, effectively shortening the bone, primarily used to treat a condition called “ulnar impaction syndrome” which occurs when the ulna is too long relative to the radius, causing pain in the wrist joint; this procedure aims to alleviate pressure on the wrist by adjusting the bone length to a more balanced position.
