Overview
The Precision in Practice course will be the “must-attend” Acumed course of the year! This unique conference style dual-extremity program is designed to address the daily challenges surgeons face in the hand & wrist AND foot & ankle. The one-day course will include in-depth case discussions, explore case controversies in emerging treatment modalities, and provide attendees with the opportunity for hands-on cadaveric practice in our exciting Mobile Labs. Our expert faculty of surgeons at the forefront of extremity treatment will deliver advanced instruction on current trends, controversies, health care economics, and emerging solutions in extremity care.
The event will begin with a welcome reception on Friday, June 27, followed by a full day program on Saturday, June 28.
Target Audience
This course is open to all practicing orthopedic surgeons, traumatologists, and extremity specialists looking for exposure to the most recent developments in orthopedic fractures and reconstruction. We encourage participants of any specialty to dive deeper into their areas of subject expertise or venture into adjacent indications.
Chairs
- Mihir J. Desai, MD – Mihir Desai is the Medical Director of Vanderbilt Orthopedics Franklin, Fellowship Director of Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery, and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Vanderbilt University. He completed his medical degree at Georgetown University Medical School and his residency at Emory University. He then went on to complete a fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microvascular Surgery. Dr. Desai is an expert in hand and wrist orthopedic surgery, who provides comprehensive care for patients with fractures and injuries throughout the hand and wrist.
- Selene G. Parekh, MD, MB – Selene Parekh is an orthopedic surgeon at Rothman Orthopaedic Institute and a Professor of Orthopaedics at the Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University. He earned an MBA in Health Care Management and an MD from Boston University. Dr. Parekh completed his orthopedic residency and fellowships in Health Care Entrepreneurship and Foot and Ankle Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania as well as a certificate in Artificial Intelligence from MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Dr. Parekh specializes in minimally invasive surgery, 3D printing, total ankle replacements, and athlete foot and ankle care. Passionate about technology’s impact on medicine, he is known for developing advanced implants and techniques for limb salvage.
